ABOUT CRAG:

CRAG is an independent research institution engaged in leading-edge basic and applied plant and farm animal sciences. CRAG is established as a Consortium of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA), Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and University of Barcelona (UB). The Center is located at the UAB Campus and currently hosts 200 members from across the world.

Research Programs at CRAG (from basic science to applied research using plant experimental model systems, crops and farm animals) make extensive use of genomic technologies and large sets of genetic and genomic data (http://biennialreport2018-2019.cragenomica.es/).

RESPONSIBILITIES: We are looking for a post-doctoral researcher with experience in molecular biology and nitrogen signaling in potato to join a project with industry to reduce the need of high levels of nitrate fertilizers for a high yield in tubers. He/she will be responsible of deleting by means of genome editing the CDF1 binding site in the potato NITRATE REDUCTASE promoter and analyzing nitrogen use efficiency and starch/ amino acid composition of tubers in the generated lines.  

These tasks are included within the framework of an ACCIÓ project our group has submitted to the Generalitat de Catalunya.  PATPROT “Millora de la qualitat del tubèrcul de patata mitjançant modificació de l’eficiència d’us de nitrogen”

REQUIREMENTS:

Educational requirements: PhD degree in biology or equivalent (or having already deposited the PhD work at the corresponding University)

Skills: The candidate shall have experience in potato transformation.

Experience: Previous experience in plant nitrogen signaling will be positively assessed.
